SPELLBULARY 2019 will be held on Friday, 7 June 2019.
All about Spellbulary:
Spellbulary was started in 2005 as a fun and competitive event to encourage spelling and vocabulary. An annual competition, Spellbulary is a huge and popular event as it is Hong Kong’s only citywide Spelling bee. Not only does Spellbulary involve spelling but it also includes a vocabulary component in the contest. This event usually attracts hundreds of kids and parents.
Date: Friday, 7 June 2019 (Tuen Ng Festival)
Location: Recital Hall, 8/F (High Block), Hong Kong City Hall, 5 Edinburgh Place, Central
Registration Fee: $100 per student
Your child will be automatically placed in one of two age levels: Group 1 Ages 6-9 (2:30-4pm) and Group 2 Ages 10-12 (4-5:30pm).
How to study for Spellbulary
- When you encounter a word you do not know, look it up.
- Keep a journal of new vocabulary words and review the journal frequently. If possible, make flashcards.
- Make studying for Spellbulary a family activity–test each other at the dinner table and have practice rounds at home with your parents.
- Have fun!
